My Foodie Pen Pal spoiled me… the end…
I hadn’t taken part in a Foodie Pen Pals swap in a year and I have to say, I was definitely spoiled getting paired up with April over at April Mae Weekly! She put together such a GREAT box, full of really awesome treats that my whole family could love! I so appreciate her thoughtfulness… Thanks, April! You are a gem!
(on the unfortunate side of things, my iPhone bit the dust shortly there after so not only are these photos on the crummy side, but recovering them was a task.)
It ain’t easy…
I’m a significant portion Irish, but I’ve never really gotten into the whole St. Patricks day thing. Beyond elementary school celebrations, it never really seemed like a big deal. In this part of the country though, St. Patricks day is kind of a bigger deal than it is back home. Wonders never cease…
At any rate, less in the spirit of conformity and more in the motivation of focusing on things I either love or am looking forward to- (you know, things which are NOT white, glittery, freezing cold and associated with winter) I thought I’d make a lovely little list of green things that I hope are in my VERY near future…
– bare feet in soft green grass.
– watermelon (though technically it’s the pink part that’s the best)
– fresh, roasted brussel sprouts with garlic.
– key lime pie
– Mexican coke with a wedge of lime, on a hot day. (it counts!)
yeah… it may be a small list, but it’s a pretty important one!
Do you have any green favorites?
Desperately seeking sunshine…
The highlight of my week has been driving down the road and seeing patches of grass visible amidst the mass amounts of snow that I fear will never (ever, ever) go away. I absolutely blame this winter funk for my blog negligence. I’ve been pretty MIA on twitter, instagram, and all around everything really. It’s a little sad. You have to understand, I’m a desert girl at heart. By my birthday, it’s warm enough to be outdoors doing all of those wonderful outdoorsy things like riding bikes, barbecues with friends, pool parties, etc. (granted, I don’t have a pool… BUT, if I lived somewhere more desert and less tundra, I absolutely (probably) would!)
I’m just winter jaded, seasonally depressed… My house has beautiful windows, everywhere I look. This is something I loved about it, when it wasn’t perpetually Antarctica. Every time the sun shines through the grey haze of Michigan sky, I ache to go lay in the grass and just soak in its rays. The very real threat that frostbite poses, does deter me. I have a beautiful, easy facing deck, but the 3 feet of solid ice inhabiting it also keeps me from taking up sun-soaking residence there.
I wish I could share with you all of the wonderful things I’ve been doing instead. All of the productive writing (er, editing…) I’ve been doing, or the photography projects I’ve taken on, or the exciting travels I’ve adventured about with. Alas’, there is nothing. No great books that I’ve read, no new and exciting music to share. Nothing.
Pathetic.
In fact, as I sit here and type this post I’m wondering what I’ve been doing these past 9 days? Where have I been? For the first time in my life I feel like I’ve actually been in a fog… Creepy. This is obviously an emergency. Where are my sunshine state friends? I need a respite, stat!
Better six days late…
than never…
I had ever intention of getting my MARCH post up, on March 1st. Ideally, I should have started working on it prior to March 6th… It has been completely insane over here though, there have been so many things to do, for so many projects with deadlines or other time sensitive issues. It’s been fun, but a bit CRAZY!
Every day I have to sadly transfer “March post” from the previous day’s to-do list, to the current. Oh well, what can you do? Six days late is better than sixteen. Or Sixty. Can you imagine me posting this in May? Yikes…
March…
