Dearest Tatyana…

Old Phone IsolatedI’m not even sure if this is how you spell your name.

I guess that I could call you and ask…

To say that you are, by far, one of the most randomly kindest people I’ve talked to in a long, long while, is an understatement. If some woman called me, at 6:20 in the morning, wondering why I was answering her husband’s phone when he was supposed to be at work- well, I might not have been as genuinely sweet as you were.

Thank you for several days of dealing with annoying calls and messages for my husband, and not understanding why in the world, after years of having your number, people were all of a sudden calling for this Chw guy.

And, in case I didn’t make it clear enough this morning, under the bizarre circumstances, you were nicer at 6:20 in the morning that I likely would have been in the middle of the day. I bet you shed a lot of light into the world… You KNOW how gloomy it is here today, and my whole day is beaming because of your kind demeanor this morning. People just aren’t kind anymore, myself included. You taught me a valuable lesson.

Dinosaurs, paper cameras and cover songs- oh my…

It has been one heck of week both inside my home and out…

I feel left speechless and shaking my head for a dozen, or more, different reasons.

At any rate, I could use a good distraction and maybe you could too. Here’s my friday list… {If you aren’t sure what I’m talking about, it’s just a list of things I’ve collected from around the internet, this week, that I’m either loving or found interesting… Consider it my highlights…}

– I may have mentioned this here, (I forget) but lately I am obsessed with covers. Also, one of my FAVORITE singers is Dallas Green. Have you heard his cover of Alicia Key’s Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready)? Haunting and I’ve gotta say- it stirs me…

– I know that everyone’s been talking about the shutdown. Some are sick of it, and many can’t get enough ranting in… This isn’t really a rant. This is just a list of 21 ways the shut down affects us that we may not be aware of… (and I have a question… why does a family of four need a staff of 90 to care for them?) Ok. I guess that might be a rant.

– BUT, don’t lose hope on people just yet… Seriously. :)

– I know a gal, through a gal… And she made this. She’s amazing, no? It’s awesome. I’m in awe.

– Who hasn’t had a “dinosaur experience” of their own? This is one of my favorite blogs, but this post rocked my world.

If you have anything awesome to share- please do! (great cover songs most especially!)

On phone étiquette…

Last night as Gen and I were chatting about the ins and outs of a high school Monday around bowls full of broccoli and pasta, my cell phone rang from across the room where it was charging. Without hesitation, she ran over to the dock and looked at it’s screen.

Excitedly she gasped, “It’s your friend Sally!”

I encouraged her back to the table, abandoning the singing phone. In complete confusion (after all she is only fourteen) I explained to her that we were eating dinner and talking with each other, and that’s why I have a voice mail.

“But we talk all of the time. We’ve had lots of time to talk. She’s your friend.”

I smiled and tried again. “And you are my daughter. We are having a conversation at dinner and it does not matter if we are talking about something as silly as marshmallow or something life or death serious- this dinner conversation with you is top priority over anything that is happening with that phone.”

“what if it’s an emergency?”

I tried to look thoughtful before replying, “then I guess her voicemail will let me know that I need to call her back.”

We finished dinner, chatting with ease about  bit of everything, ranging from serious to the not so much… Sometime later she went to take a shower and I decided to call my mom to see how she was doing. (In case you’re curious, Sally was fine and I did try to call her first but just got her voicemail.)

When Gen was done with her shower and came back downstairs she saw I was on the phone and gasped in mock outrage, “I see how you are! Obviously my shower wasn’t important to you. Now I know how you feel about the priority of my hygiene.”

Stinker…

under my umbrella…

Sometimes on fridays I like to give a little list of things I’m really loving, this week, from around the web.

This is today’s…

It seems a little unfair to start you off with this video because it’s really sad, but so beautiful…

This post cracked me up… {however, if you easily offend from language, just look at the pics.}

I LOVE unique romantic getaway ideas… I say ideas because, as much as I love the ocean (and I do), I could never actually go to this hotel but that doesn’t change how absolutely awesome it is!

We’re in the market for a dog bowl, and I’m in love with this one.

And lastly… this. I am obsessed with this video. With this song… With everything about it. It has been the highlight of my week!

Anything you want to share?

Enjoy your weekend!

Until August…

Taking on the finalization of my novel, school, summer (with the kidlet home) and the other odds and end things going on- well, my blog seems to be getting a big part of the neglect so I’ve decided I’m going to take a month off. I’m taking July off to enjoy my family, enjoy my work, wrap up these classes and have a bit better footing come August…

I also need need to do some deep thinking regarding this blog, where it’s going and what I want/need from it…

If you have any thoughts, please share them in the comments and continue to email, should you desire… I really do have the best readers. :) I consider you more than readers, I consider you friends…
