Why, hello Oscar…

I feel like such a movie slacker… Usually, by this day every year (it’s a big day around our house) I have seen most of the nominated movies… This year, I haven’t- and it’s unfortunate because I have worked SO HARD not to have to see Avatar. Psh… Darn you, James Cameron. (I am sort of dumb in the fact that I REFUSE to watch the Oscars if I haven’t seen all of the nominated major motion pictures…) I have a month and 5 days. ugh. but then, despite my certainties that i will hate Avatar, i have to wonder: why bother? We all know it will win anyway. (again, I repeat: darn you, James Cameron!!!!)

My to-do list (only rule is major motion pictures) and the other categories with a * for who I think will win, and BOLD for who i want to win…

  1. Gosh, you're fast! Didn't the announcements just come out this morning? I haven't gotten beyond just reading them yet:)With them upping the best film category to ten I guess you have a lot of work to do if you're going to get to watch the awards. I don't think I like the change, personally. It feels like they had to include way too many to get to ten…Anyway, I haven't seen most of the movies this year, but that's nothing new. It doesn't stop me from participating in my family's long standing Oscar betting pool, which I'm happy to say I usually win.I'll use your list as a resource when I start my research.I've heard/read that Kathryn Bigelow will win for best director…

  2. Jason Reitman did such a great job but I haven't seen the hurt locker yet… I am all for (honestly) anyone but James Cameron winning…i hate that they expanded the Best film category. And I'm sort of having issues with UP being in both…

  3. I enjoy the pagentry of the Oscars, but my husband will stand in the doorway and make snide comments through the whole thing if i try to watch the whole thing. I am amazed that there are actually some movies you mentioned that i want to see…although I did see District 9 and can't fathom why it would be nominated…it was okay, but nothing new, like Avatar is nothing new…I do want to see Precious…but i am not one for heartache movies…and I think I might rent Up in the Air,
