For the record…

– self discipline at bed time sucks worst of all… or rather yet, I suck at it...
– i LOVE the movie Juno.
– I also loved Charlie Wilson’s War.
– I think puffs tissue with Vicks enfused in to it is seriously an ingenious invention!
– sometimes cereal for dinner is a good thing.
– puppies are uncool.
– i am thoroughly addicted to shooting rabbits. (on the Wii that is, with Rayman’s Raving Rabbids 2)
– I miss The Office.
– I had a great chat with my mom tonight.
– I have to be up in 4 hours and it’s a jam packed/stress filled day.
– our local market had hand picked forget-me-nots for sale. Where on earth did they get them? (of course i bought them! they are lovely.)
– in the event that my divorce from DPM is going well, I decided to celebrate my soda-liberation with a strawberry italian soda (homemade)…
It exploded everywhere. Literally.
– My husband, Mr. “I hate to travel” with the middle name “I hate the ocean!” is spending the weekend with his co-worker/buddy at a family’s home in California. It’s a coastal home…
It’s cold here…
I want a coastal getaway…

Oh well. Bekah is watching Garden State in the living room. I love that movie SOOOO much and the music is contributing to my happiness. It’s those late nights before a stressful morning when I contemplate calling DPM. Just to see how he is… See if he wants to come hang out… (Oh Diet Pepsi Max, I do miss you a little. But I am trying to be strong!)

Things I realized today…

– Downtown Boise makes me smile.
– Every time I see a white pontiac mini-van I think of Jacki.
– Brie is not my favorite cheese.
– Sometimes you have to make a choice that may enable your kid to be a bigger brat, simply for your peace of mind.
– Warm, spiced wine makes me sleepy.
– There are family members who plan holidays agreeably and make even the planning fun.
– Then there are some who don’t.
– Having your Christmas shopping done is an amazing feeling.
– Even when that last person’s gift ended up being a great big “settle”. *sigh*
– A new bra is a wonderful gift to self.
– So is an amazing $90 sweater 60% off.
– My Razr sucks. (oh wait… I didn’t just realize this today, but it was worth repeating!)
– I care a lot less about certain things than I did even a month ago.
– This is a good, and mature transition.
– I have an unhealthy desire to now go hooky bobbing.
– I met a friend of a friend today and liked her a lot, quite instantly. This is rare for me.
– My puppy is unworthy of trust.
– Never rely on a child to tell you when the pet food is getting low.
– My car rides so smooth with a full tank.
– Red food coloring is pretty impossible to get off of the counter top.
– my back STILL hurts from the sugar cookie monologues yesterday. Too bad I have to revisit them tomorrow evening.
– It is quite a tough decision as to whether or not put up lights along our rooftop.
– Martha Stewart does inspire me. I am tired of pretending otherwise, it’s true… I am a lemming.
– I love knowing that I have countless Christmas gifts in my trunk. It’s like a secret.
– Good things do happen to those who just believe.
– Just because there is a crack house on one corner doesn’t mean that there can’t be a reputable family on the other.
– I need a massage.
– You guys leave great and supportive comments… Thanks!

WOW!
For the record, I believe that there should be monthly blogging gift exchanges, as it is wonderful.

I got to thinking about the women who settled, with their new husbands, when the west was still wild. Imagine that beautiful feeling when a man on a horse would bring a note from home, (likely written six or so months from home) or when a wagon train would arrive with a quilt from Grandma..

Anyway, this was all very off of topic, and the topic here is this beautiful ornament! :)

My ornament (which was absolutely perfect, btw) comes to me from Beckie… Although Beckie and I know virtually nothing about one another, please allow me to tell you 3 very distinct things that I now know about her.

1) Beckie chose the perfect ornament. There is very little which is really sentimental to me from my childhood, but I have such an affinity for Rudolph. And not just any Rudolph but the Rudolph from the Burl Ives Christmas story.
2) Beckie pays a great deal of attention to detail as her little note holder was so precious and, although I would have loved to snap a photo of it, my daughter stole it immediately to store in her secret place of things most treasured! (Good thing I had time to grab the note with her URL or this blog post would be worded a little bit more like this: Would the wonderful woman who mailed me the ornament pictured above please come to my blog at once and identify yourself…)
3) Beckie is very wise to stuff every side of the box generously with tissue paper because, if there was one box that the United States Postal Service felt was worthy of a stand off against a forklift, this poor little box was it. It came to us literally crushed, but Beckie’s wisdom protected my precious Rudolph!!!

So, Beckie, thank you… Thank you, thank you, thank you!
And Julie, thank you too, for organizing such a fun experience!
