And the award goes to…

Thank you, Girlymama for this Arte y Pico award! This award is one of my favorites because it’s focus is to honor creativity!

As stated in the rules, posted below, I am supposed to pass this on to 5 Creative bloggers who contribute to the blogging community. This is always the hardest part, but I’ll try—
(This is the part where I point out that this would have been the perfect time to link Holly (@June Cleaver Nirvana), yet again… But honestly, it’s on the verge of Virtual stalking. We’re already vacationing virtually and well, despite the fact that she is freaking hilarious, inspiring and THE BEST stick figure artist on the planet, I have to exhibit some form of self control…

1.) Burgh Baby’s Mom because honestly, stories don’t get more creatively told than hers! Plus, she’s like the Kevin Bacon of blogging. {And why she started reading me, one day, I’ll never know…}

2.) Dawn because she has been an incredible inspiration to my creative homeschool brain… I love her ideas and how it seems she pulls everything off with such grace a peace!

3.) Melissa… I know I’ve awarded her before, and honestly it could be for this very same award. Even so, this girl deserves it. She IS Creativity… She finds the most inspirational/artsy stuff… I love her…

4.) The girls… These girls make me want to move to the country and buy a gaggle of chickens. They make me want to walk along side cows, in a field, with a hay in my mouth. (no, not a mouth full of hay, just a piece.) These girls are great story crafters and writers on their individual blogs- and are collaborating to make a country/crafty/something special/kinda farm girl blog… I for one, the non-chicken raising, city dweller, hope they keep this side project up!

5.) Inspiring Ideas. I recently stumbled across this blog and have fallen head over heels for her archives… This girl has great ideas, and is practical about them!

The rules are:

You have to pick 5 blogs that you think deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.

Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given
her or him the award itself.

The award-winner and the one who has given the prize must show the link of the “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. http://arteypico.blogspot.com/

What I know Vs. What I don’t…

KnowThe Mist is an utterly stupid movie… And not one to watch when your home is currently under invasion of creepy insects…

Don’t Know– How some amazing movies get pushed to DVD immediately while others (ehem, The Mist) get made, marketed and the whole sha-bang!

Know– That despite my current condition I’ve had dinner on the table every night, and a pluthera of duties met throughout the day.

Don’t Know– why the husband and girl-child can not really be of help. Husband tries, but then complicates everything by opening his mouth. Same scenario with the daughter, sans “trying”…

Know– I got a really great letter in the mail today from my BFF’s daughter Jenna, who is currently in Boot Camp for the army.

Don’t Know– if her birthday (which is today) will be a remotely fun one. (how could it be, really???)

Know– I sat down to edit a really big project, only to find it missing from my office computer.

Don’t Know– Where it went.

Know– Chw was in the garage putting gas in the mower and felt something on his neck. It was a giant Earwig. (*Gasp*)

Don’t Know– How I feel about that… I was mad at him, but even so…

Know– That I really don’t want to move.

Don’t Know– That we get much say in the matter but cross your fingers with me, will ya?

Know– I have a pretty important meeting tonight that I don’t want to attend because I can barely walk across my darn house…

Don’t Know– that there is anyway I can get out of it, short of death. (Which could have happened if The Mist had been even 14 minutes longer…)

Know– That I’m blissfully happy for Nicole Kidman and her (finally) little baby.

Don’t know– how screwed up her’s and Tom’s adopted kids will be.

Know– That my reader is way fuller than it should be at 1:21 in the morning.

Don’t Know– If I can stay up to read them all.

Know– I am so tired.

Don’t know– if i can sleep, i hurt so badly.

Know– Iced tea is wonderful.

Don’t know– why rivers don’t flow with it.

Know– that I am rambling out of late night something-or-other…

Don’t know– Anything really blog worthy to say…

Know– That I don’t understand Facebook.

Don’t Know– the purpose or point of the afore mentioned social network…

Call me clueless… at 1:30 in the morning, I don’t know much… But I’m reading an Elizabeth Berg book that I’m on the fence about, so I just needed a distraction.

Developments…

Already, it’s been a pretty exciting two days with G gone…
BUSY- BUSY- BUSY… (note to my tweety peeps, don’t let my lame twittering fool you– I am busy AND cool…)

I am deep within the thralls of home re-organization. We are transitioning Genny’s room from “little girl” to the big girl she is. In the process I am reorganizing all of our homeschool stuff AND, if that isn’t enough, I brought home 16 pounds of strawberries to practice my domestic abilitities with.
Oh yes… And playing Rock Band. (shhh… I was NEVER a video game nerd until I was introduced to these darn guitar games. Now I am an addict- full fledged.)

I am also going on hiatus. I am going to set up a few automatic posts, but out computer here at home needs some help and with Chw having MY Former laptop with him, during all hours of the day/night, I can’t promise I will be online after Friday, for about a week or so. Hopefully this will be remedied soon. In the meantime, unlimited time to reconnect with my girl will be great…

But here is what I need from you:
– love… loads of love… embrace my scheduled posts as if they were pieces of cyber me. Which they are. I guess…
– support. I love my blogs that I read! i LOVE them… It’ll suck. a lot. (just being honest.)

This concludes this message, and NO i did not forget Junes giveaway… i will post it tomorrow!

WFMW- Water Bathing Cheesecake…

Several of you have asked, and so, for those of you who don’t know what water bathing, in the oven is, I am here to share…

In essence it’s baking, with water.

For those of you who have attempted cheesecakes, and had them crack of fall- this is why: too dry…

An oven is a really dry environment and we all know what dry environments create: evaporation.

Before I bake my crust, (which I always do before I add my cheesecake filling) I wrap the bottom and sides of the pan tightly in aluminum foil. Then, after it’s baked and cooled, and the filling is added, I set the pan in a large roasting pan, centered. I pour (around the cheesecake pan, into the roasting pan) a kettle of boiling water.
(The pan is VERY heavy at this point so, if you feel you can’t lift it to put it in the oven, you should probably already have the cheesecake-in-roasting-pan combo sitting on a pulled out oven rack, ready to slide in once the water’s been poured.)

I then bake my cake at 325 degrees for 90 minutes. at 90 minutes I turn the oven off, stick the handle of a wooden spoon to prop the oven door open a bit and set my timed for another 60 minutes. The result is a tall, perfect cheesecake EVERY time…

Water Bathing can also work with cakes, bundt cakes, and cupcakes. The way to water bath for cupcakes or muffins (which I a lot) is to alternate the muffin cups with badder and water. The results can be pretty fantastic!
