This could be your lucky day…

Ok, you guys… Amidst all of this sadness I’ve got something REALLY FREAKING GREAT to tell you!
Are you ready?
I conversed with the author Laura Harrington on twitter! Anyone who reads this blog, is on my FB or has seen me at all this week knows that i DEEPLY loved her book…
My husband will be the first to assure anyone who asks that:
– I am overly critical.
– my “favorite” lists are seldom penetrated. This goes for film lists, music lists AND book lists.
– I still have not shut up about this book.
– This book is now on my favorite list, and quite possibly MY FAVORITE book.
The truth is, I checked this book out, from the library, on a whim. I was sad about Makaila’s cancer diagnosis and needed a distraction. As I mentioned before, after the slew of horrible books I read, over the summer- my hopes were at a reasonable low. I am now going to buy this book (which I read in one sitting, completely immersed in it.) as well as a brand new highlighter because Laura’s writing style is simply stunning. I NEED to make certain lines stand out. It took every ounce of self control I have to not underline the library’s copy to death…
The thing is, I am so jealous. So jealous because Laura and Penguin offered to give two of my readers their very own copies of Alice Bliss. You guys are so lucky!!! (well, two of you, anyway…)
So, here’s the deal:
– 1 entry (and you WANT to enter. you WANT to win this book. I promise) for commenting. In your comment tell me your book recommendation as I need some more good reading!
– 1 additional entry if you tweet this giveaway. (leave the hyper link in a comment)
– 1 additional entry if you blog this giveaway. (leave the link in a comment)
– 3 (yes, THREE) additional entries for every person who enters and says they came from your blog.
– 5 entries if you go to Twitter and follow Laura, AND Penguin Books AND me!… {remember to come back and comment, letting me know!}
Make sure you leave your email OR your name links to your email… HAPPY READING!
Entry Deadline is Wednesday August 31st, at 11:59 p.m.

  1. Umm, I don't do the Twitter tweetin' thingy…wayyyy to tech challenged for that kinda thing. But I'm commenting! And here's your book recommendation:Jamacia Inn by Daphne du MaurierOld classic, but my favorite book when my gothic, gloomy teenage angst years!

  2. Sah-weet! I'm in! I would LOVE to win a copy of this book. And, I just finished One Day…it was meh, kinda wish I'd just waited for the movie to go to Red Box and spent $1 and two hours instead of $10 and several hours.Does that count as a recommendation?

  3. I would love to win a copy of this book and I will pass on this information to my SIL. Just finished Glass Castle again…loved it! Now I think I will read her follow up Half Broke Horses.

  4. Misty, I'm late in commenting on this, but wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your sadness. That's so rough. I'll be thinking of you and your family during this tough time. My book recommendation is a fun, fanciful Irish mystery: anything by Erin Hart. Love her!

  5. Here's my entry. As soon as you blogged about the book before, I put it on my mental list of things to get from the library. After this summer's books, I'm needing a known winner!

  6. Hey Misty :) I haven't read this book you're talking about. I'll need to check it out :) if you LOVE books, I recommend paperbackswap.com. Are you a member? Free book exchange website. Could you mark me as a referral if you join: jillybean7682 * I love J.R. Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series. * There's a book from the 1970s called "2150 AD." It was kinda trippy! * The Giver, Gathering Blue, The Messenger, or Number the Stars by Lois Lowry * I heard the Hunger Games is awesome* Anything by Janette Oke (particularly the Love Comes Softly series)I'm a sucker for romance. Scottish romance, paranormal romance, contemporary romance… LOL… so anything by Hannah Howell, Jude Deveraux, Lisa Kleypas, Shannon Drake, Diana Gabaldon, Monica McCarty, need me to go on?? haha!

  7. Here is my entry…:)I recommend His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman. It is The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.I LOVE this series…it pulls me away to another world which what I love about a good book. :)P.S. I have not seen the movie, The Golden Compass because I heard that it was terrible compared to the book…so if you have seen it, plan on the book being WAY better…ngyllen013@gmail.com

  8. I know I mentioned it to you before, but I loved The Red Tent. Another totally fun and somewhat frivolous series are Theodora's Diary, Theodora's Wedding and Theodora's Baby. They are some of my happy books. A clean, but still British, Bridget Jones if you will. I am excited for the chance to win this book! Even if I don't I am going to seek it out somewhere. Thanks :)

  9. I am sure I have already mentioned these books but I love them so much….I recommend: Five Quarters of the Orange by Joanne Harris; The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver and Fortune's Rocks by Anita Shreve.

  10. I'd love to read this one (adding it to my list in case I don't win!) :) I have so many favorites. I love the author Cathy Lamb – her first book, Julia's Chocolates will remain my favorite of hers. I'm also a big fan of anything by Alice Hoffman and Kris Radish. Probably my remaining favorite though is Little Women.

  11. You have me so completely intrigued with Alice Bliss I must have a it right away! I must! (Or, I'm crossing my fingers at winning a copy of my very own.)Now, I'm not sure why this title is popping into my mind this morning but I'm going to take it as a sign and go with it, I recommend "Emma Who Saved My Life" by Wilton Barnhardt. Give it a try~Annannharrison@comcast.net
